740 Heinz Avenue In Development
Location: Berkeley
Use: Laboratory
Area: 92,000 sq. ft.
The 740 Heinz Avenue building is designed as a flexible state-of-the-art life science R&D building located in Wareham’s Aquatic Park Center in Berkeley. 740 Heinz Avenue will add 93,000 square feet of much needed “first generation” laboratory space to the campus, which is currently home to offices and research facilities for Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory / University of California at Berkley, Siemens Diagnostics Division, XOMA (US) LLC, the State of California Department of Toxic Substances Control, and Dynavax Technologies. With outdoor terraces and a landscaped plaza which will includes public artwork and pedestrian-oriented rest places, the development of 740 Heinz Avenue allows occupants to take advantage of the inner courtyard of the Aquatic Park Center, a highly-trafficked pedestrian area that links businesses to the south and west of the park, the on-site child care facility and to the popular cafés and restaurants within 800 Heinz Avenue and beyond. The project has been been recognized as LEED-CS pre-
certified at the Gold level.
